<p>While summer can mean healthier skin in some regards, it can also present a few season-specific problems. Warmer, more humid air helps skin retain moisture so it is softer and smoother. <p>The most important thing you can do is to cleanse your face every morning and follow with a lightweight SPF moisturizer on your face and neck. It&#8217;s best to choose a moisturizer that is enhanced with SPF rather than a sunscreen because these tend to be oily and thick, and the last thing summer skin needs is more oil!</p>
<p>If you are going to be out in the sun for prolonged periods of time with arms, legs, or chest exposed, you should also apply a lightweight sunscreen to those areas of your body. SPF 15 is generally sufficient for most situations, however if you are already susceptible to sunburn or are spending a day at the beach or in the park it might be wise to opt for a higher SPF. Children of course should always wear at least SPF 30 to ensure protection of their highly sensitive skin.</p>
<p>You should make it a habit to drink water throughout the day all year long but even more so during the summer months when your body loses hydration at a quicker rate. Drink water before, during, and after physical activity but also during periods of rest. This will keep you from succumbing to dehydration, sun stroke, and fatigue and it will also keep your skin glowingly healthy.</p>
<p>These days sunglasses are so often worn purely for fashion that it can be easy to forget that they also serve the important purpose of protecting your eyes from UVA/UVB rays. Wearing sunglasses can significantly reduce the risk of doing damage to eyes. Be sure to also use a sunscreen moisturizer for the eye area as a means of preventing premature aging.</p>
